Terms of Service

Last updated: May 30, 2026

"The cooperative form is not a compromise. It is the answer." — These terms reflect that belief. We've written them to be honest, not defensive. If something here ever feels wrong, tell us.

Who We Are

CO-OPS is an international cooperative network built by COCOM LLC, a cooperative services entity. We exist to build tools, infrastructure, and community for the cooperative economy — globally. We are accountable to our members — not to shareholders. Reach us any time at [email protected].

Your $1 Network Pass

When you pledge $1, you're not buying access to software — you're joining a movement. Your dollar is a one-time solidarity contribution that:

The Network Pass is not a subscription and is not refundable. It's a handshake. It opens the door to the CO-OPS directory, the job board, and the member community. It is the first step — not the whole journey.

The Network Pass is not co-op membership. Full membership in a specific co-op (hemps.coop, job.coop, computer.coop, etc.) is a deeper commitment with its own equity, governance, and patronage terms. We'll walk you through it when you're ready.

Your Account

When you create an account, you're entering a community built on trust. We ask that you:

In return, we commit to treating your account with respect — never selling your data, never using it for advertising, never locking you in.

Co-op Membership

Each co-op in the network is its own democratic organization with its own bylaws, equity model, and governance. When you join a specific co-op, their membership terms apply — you'll receive those clearly before committing. Cooperative membership is serious: it comes with real rights, real responsibilities, and a real ownership stake in something being built together.

Purchases

Products purchased through co-ops in the network are fulfilled by each co-op directly. COCOM processes payments on their behalf. For any order issues, contact the specific co-op first — we'll always help if they can't.

Your Content

Anything you post — job listings, forum contributions, profile information — stays yours. By posting, you allow us to display it within the network. You can delete your content and your account at any time, no questions asked.

How We Treat Each Other

The cooperative economy runs on a simple premise: we do better together than apart. We expect members to show up in good faith, treat others honestly, and contribute to the community rather than extract from it. Accounts that consistently undermine that may be suspended — but we'd rather have a conversation first.

Governance — You Have a Voice

COCOM is actively building toward full member governance — a structure where members have real say in how the network operates. As that takes shape, we will notify all members of their rights and how to participate. These terms will be updated to reflect those changes, and you'll hear about it before anything changes.

We believe the people who use a cooperative should govern it. That's not a promise for later — it's the architecture we're building now.

What We Guarantee (And What We Don't)

We build this network with care, but we're a small team and no software is perfect. We provide the network as-is and can't guarantee it will be available and error-free at all times. If something breaks, we'll fix it. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid. For most members that's $1 — that's honest, not evasive.

Changes to These Terms

If we need to change these terms in ways that affect your rights, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You'll always have time to decide if this is still the right community for you. We won't spring anything on you.

Legal Home

These terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, USA. We'd always rather resolve disagreements through conversation than courts — but if it ever comes to that, Washington is home.

We're building this with you — not at you.
